Snow, the troublemaker?!

[作者:闫文国 转贴自:本站 点击数:427 更新时间:2018-12-13 文章录入:admin]

It was Dec. 5, two days before the Major Snow of the Chinese Solar Terms, that gave us a nice surprise. The first snow in 2018 came to all of us without any information. Staff of our international centre came out to enjoy themselves during the morning break. But my job was to drive to Shijiazhuang to catch the flight of the South Air to Dalian for a visit to Ealing International College.

How many troubles did the unexpected snow make?

Trouble I: the closed highway

After I fill her( Miss Dus Roewe) up at ten am I drove to the toll gate of Xiaozhang, unfortunately it was closed because of the falling snow. I glanced at the time. It was 10:30 and there seemed no enough time left for the 2:50 pm flight. What I would do was only one thing, to speed up!

Trouble II: the slippery road

We four, Miss Du Wenhui, Mr. Bao Xuelin, Miss Li Ying and me, experienced the hardship of the County Road. It was narrow, single lane; wet,   slippery  and stuck with cars and lorries. I leaned myself left-handed to see what happened before me and always ready to overtake, even on a curve. Sorry about that!

Trouble III: the dirty license

I kept pressing the accelerator to get there a little earlier. There was no doubt that my colleagues in the car were nervous  all the way to the airport but thank our carefulness we arrived at T2 safe and sound. The only regret was that we were stopped at the entrance to the parking lot and informed that the licence plate couldnt be read. We had to remove the mud although the plane was to take off soon.

(After checking, I found no traffic offence.)

Trouble IV: the delayed flight

Yes, the snow accompanied us all the way from Hengshui to Shijianzhuang but it was not enough. The day when we were to fly back from Dalian made us a joke. Snowflakes whirled in the sky like a myriad of feathers and the announcer of the airport was that patient to let us know that the flight was delayed for an hour, an hour and another  due to bad weather, until finally it was canceled. I guess Dalian hopes to treat us another night.

But look outside and watch how the snow caster was working. It was a monster that had so big a mouth. Immediately the snow came near to him, the snow was thrown into the air, metres high, like a strong storm or tsunami. I like to try to be the driver for it was so exciting.

Taking the comfortable seat(though the last row) inside the plane, I observed something different outside. It was not a monster this time. It was a so-called moving Griffin. Its job was to clear the thick snow on the plane. He protruded his long tongue to taste the snow first and then swallowed it all. Bold Griffin, does the snow bite your tongue???

The snow brought my memory to the freezing cold winter days when I young. The nose became red, ears painful, mouth numb, hands frostbitten, and feet frozen stiff...

I put out my leg and write down SNOW on the ground, using my foot.

ANYWAY, I LOVE THIS LOVELY SNOW!!!
